"The Corporate World" & "Political Correctness"

If some one were to ask me what I thought was the biggest hypocrisy of our times, I would quite automatically say; 'The "Corporate World" & "Political Correctness"'. Why does it seem to be hypocritical now? Well to start with, in the so called "Corporate World", nothing is natural. Yes, including the people that make up the "Corporate World". For eg. everyone is so f***ing artificial here. No one is allowed to be their true self. Everyone is supposed to wear masks that are full of "The Company Values". No doubt the company's values themselves are really good & ethical & stuff. But the people who it is thrust upon, do they really believe in those? NO WAY!!! They just do it because their jobs depend on it. So what is the result of this? They become so bloody used to this double standard, it starts to manifest itself every where.

Just to give you an eg. there is this world famous IT company(Bangalore based), in Electonics City. This company prides itself on being environment friendly. True, once you enter the company's campus, you will be struck by the buildings (which are well in accordance with environment norms), the amount of greenery etc. The employees too make sure that they don't litter about. Outside the campus however is a monumentally huge dump of toxic waste & plastic. The employees' attitude of being civil & environment friendly is restricted to just the campus. Once they are out, they are back to being the uncivil assholes that they actually are! Now, this is just a SMALL example of the filth that actually exists.

This double standard manifests itself in every possible way. Be it in the usage of profanity or showing respect to the other person or whatever else. So you know, once you realise that this hypocrisy is rampant everywhere(almost) & in every other person(almost), it makes you feel like you want to puke. Yuck!

Wow interesting insight.

@ double standard: Truly said, In our country laws should be stricter and punishment harsher for those who litter around. Imagine how much government can earn out of this.

@ political correctness: I'd like to call it Warren Harding Effect, our subconscious mind leaping to conclusions. I came across this in a book called "BLINK". High arousal moments make us "mind blind," focusing on the wrong cue leaves us vulnerable to "the Warren Harding Effect" (i.e., voting for a handsome but hapless president). This is prevailing every where and we tend to select what we think is bright and good.

You sound like you have been bloging everyday of the past 6 months. Lucid ramblings indeed! Does your blog get a good amount of attention? all that lucidity is wasted if no one reads it. Like Jamal Wallace says in "Finding Forrester".

Well< I dont know about Warren Harding Effect, the handsome hapless president logic seems right though. Yet, I believe the true High Arousal moments do indeed occur when one is climaxing in a S**ual act. I wonder if any selection can happen at that time ;-) Nevertheless, coming to the point, the nation we are refering to is the one that had invented a lot of things not including "political correctness" . I believe it is Her majesty's own land which originally gave birth to that concept, in the early 1900. Correct me if I'm wrong.
